Though I hate chemistry subject, it does not mean that I am also hating my professor too. In fact, one of my favorite professor in NCST is Ma'am Tiongson, a chemical engineer. Last Friday, she gave us an assignment, it must be written or typewritten in a short bondpaper. The assignment includes: What is metallic property, non metallic property, atomic size, ionic size etc.

Thanks to the internet sources and the chemistry book I bought in school. I finished my assignment in less than 15 minutes.  Let me share to you my answers:

Metallic Property- The general properties of metal include malleability and ductility and most are strong and durable.

Non metallic property
- brittle, non ductile, do not possess metallic luster, transparent as a thin sheet solids, liquids, or gases at room temperature.

Atomic size
- the size of an atom depends on how far away its outermost (valence) electrons are from the nucleus. If they are very close to the nucleus, the atom will be very small. If they are far away, the atom will be quite a bit larger. So the atomic size is determined by how much space the electrons take up.

Ionic Size
- is the size of the atom after it loses its outermost electron (after the first Ionization Energy)

Ionization Energy
– is the energy required to completely remove an electron from a gaseous atom or ion.

Electron Affinity
- reflects the ability of an atom to accept an electron. It is the energy change that occurs when an electron is added to a gaseous state.

Electronegativity
- is a measure of the attraction of an atom for the electrons in a chemical bond.

Chemical Bonding
- the joining of two or more atoms forms chemical compounds.

Two types of Chemical Bonds
- Covalent bond in which one or more pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms. And ionic bond in which one or more electrons from one atom are removed and attached to another atom, resulting in + and – ions which attract each other.

I hope this help you in defining metallic property, non metallic property, ionic size, atomic size etc. Goodluck to your score.
